Overview and objectives of the PhD course

The University of Pisa, Florence and Siena have a strong tradition of research in the Classics, Anthropology and Archeology field and join their forces to create a doctorate course of highest level in order to develop a research about many aspects of the ancient world for the enhancement of the cultural heritage. Pegaso Joint Doctorate Program guarantees an international environment to his Fellows:
- foreign scholars are involved in the didactic of the course and in the Doctoral Board
- the course incourages stays abroad and co-tutoring of thesis (Doctor Europaeus)
- seminars and workshops are held not only in Italian but also in English, French, German and Spanish
The project has three curricula: Archeology, Philology and Anthropology of the Ancient World. The course has an interdiscinplinary approach (CUN Areas 5, 6, 10 e 11 and ERC fields SH2, SH3, SH4, SH5, SH6 are involved) and will offer seminars (following the ECTS credit standard), internships and stages in reaserch istitutions about the Ancient World in Italy and abroad.
